NSF International

Robert William Frayer Jr., P.E. holds the position of Global Managing Director Automotive at NSF International, an independent public health and safety organization. Mr. Frayer has over 30 years experience in the automotive sector including work in the areas of certification, testing, auditing as well as research and development. His work focuses on strategically directing the growth of NSF’s automotive certification program both on a domestic and international scale.


Mr. Frayer has been a prominent figure in the development of programs to insure the integrity of automotive parts. He has worked closely with others to develop requirements for their programs, led NSF’s development of the AQRP program for LKQ and has also led the development of NSF’s Automotive Parts, Distributors and Collision Repair Shop Certification Programs.


Mr. Frayer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. He has extensive experience in physical, materials and metrology test operations as well as the proven ability to create world-class business operations as well as research and testing facilities.


Prior to joining NSF International, Mr. Frayer worked as a Research and Development Director for a major international automotive engineering services company. Under his direction, 41 patents were filed (15 with him as the inventor or co-inventor) and 20 technical papers were coordinated for presentation and publication, 4 of which he was the author or co-author.


Mr. Frayer is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
