Advanced Diagnostic Strategies
This class will focus on difficult intermittent or complex drivability problems and the tools and strategies needed to solve the problems. Using multi-trace labscopes, scan tools, and scope accessories, the instructor will illustrate the path to a successful diagnosis and repair. The goal is to determine a testing strategy of the problem system so the dreaded “process of elimination” method of repair can be abandoned. The entire class consists of case studies of actual problem vehicles and the methods used to diagnose the problems. The problems covered include:
  • Ford Mustang stall
  • 2002 Acura RSX Trans problem
  • 2009 Toyota Corolla TTC problem
  • Chevy Camaro intermittent stall
  • Chevy Impala intermittent hard start
  • 2004 Buick LeSabre hard start
  • Toyota MR2 won’t stay running and does not move
