Exhaust Gas Analyzing and the Relationship to Proper Operation of the Catalytic Converter
Jim Morton has been working with exhaust gas analyzing for over 40 years, and it is one of the few areas that he believes he's mastered that hasn't changed at all. This diagnostic information told him 40 years ago what was happened in the combustion chamber and it is still telling him what is happening. He will even show how to use it for no start conditions by looking for the HC while cranking, then checking if there was any CO, because CO is a by-product of incomplete combustion, but it is not a by-product of no combustion. We will put our knowledge of the exhaust gases to work on the relationship they have for the proper operation of the catalytic converter and the ever-present P0420 codes.
